There is a specific kind of tired that hits in the third week of August.
You have been at this since June. You bought the black skirt at the end-of-season rack in July because it was $19 and you are not a person who pays full price. You have a pile on the guest bed, a list on your phone, a list on the fridge, and a nagging feeling that the two lists do not match. And underneath all of it is the part nobody puts on a checklist: she's leaving. Or he's leaving. For a year, in a different country, on a different clock, and you will be finding out how the first Shabbos went over a voice note.
So here is the deal with this list. Everything on it is from Amazon. Seminary: the layers she'll actually wear
The uniform is a dark skirt and a shirt. What she actually puts on over it, every single day, is a sweater or a t-shirt. That's the category to over-buy, and it's the category that gets ruined first.

What to leave home
Before you add anything else to the cart, here's the money you don't have to spend. Shampoo, conditioner, body wash, detergent, and most toiletries are all sold in Israel, often in the same brands, and formulated for the harder water there — which her hair will notice within a week. Send enough for the first few days and buy the rest at Osher Ad.
Skip American loose-leaf paper and binders entirely; that paper size doesn't exist there and refills won't fit. For anything electric, a Kosher lamp and a power strip are cheaper and correctly plugged if bought locally.
Bring the converter for the blow dryer, though. That one you want in the suitcase.

Most of what's above is showing free delivery by Sunday, August 23 as of this morning — which for a lot of families is the last clean window before the flight. Add the order-by date to your calendar so it isn't one more thing to hold in your head.
A last thing, since it's Elul and you're allowed to feel it. Everyone will tell you how fast the year goes. That's true, and it is not particularly comforting in the third week of August, when the pile on the guest bed is still a pile. But the packing is one of the last concrete, fixable things on the list — and unlike most of what comes next, it's the part you can actually finish.
Then you close the laptop, and they go up.
